CJM Fights Antisemitism in the Cannabis Community
Shalom Friends!
We deeply appreciate your support as CJM establishes itself as a prominent Jewish voice in the cannabis press. Our recent articles have highlighted Jewish contributions to the cannabis industry, explored market trends within the canna-Jewish community, and delved into the role of cannabis in Jewish religious and medicinal practice.
Confronting Antisemitism
Our recent article on antisemitism in the cannabis community, titled "Canadian Jews Suffer Antisemitic Hate from Cannabis Advocates," played a crucial role in clarifying recent events at the CannExpo in Toronto. In response, we received overwhelming support and solidarity, and garnered support for Kathryn Reilly, CEO of CannExpo, who faced online attacks and threats for defending Jews in a hostile environment.
Advocating for Change
CJM has taken proactive steps to address our crisis by proposing a working statement on racism and discrimination for cannabis organizations to adopt, ensuring that everyone feels safe and welcome at cannabis events.
We're thrilled to share that this initiative has already been endorsed by esteemed organizations such as the Israel Cannabis Association, Scotia Cannabis Alliance, CannExpo, Sonoma Valley Cannabis Group, and cannabis consulting firms Elucidation Strategies and Hunter/Esquire.
Their early support has been invaluable as we advocate for its adoption by organizations hosting expos in Canada.
Additionally, we've expanded our reach by promoting our online course, The Jewish Relation to Cannabis, to cannabis educators and educational institutions.
Our Editor-In-Chief, Dr. Lissa Skitolsky, recently made appearances on "The Green Hour," a Q&A session for students at The Cleveland School of Cannabis, and the podcast "Everything Is Personal" with Len May, CEO of EndoDNA (airing next month!).
She also contributed her "Canna-Jewish Reading of Exodus" to The Great Canadian Seder, an audio broadcast produced by Bonjour Chai featuring Canadian Jewish leaders and advocates sharing insights on observing Passover this year.
Every day, we attract more readers from Canada, the US, and Israel, and together, through Jewish educational outreach, we can truly combat antisemitism in an industry founded on Israeli ingenuity and the Jewish commitment to tikkun olam.
Building and Sustaining our Community
While we initially made our content freely accessible to build our readership and advocate for the Jewish community in the cannabis sector, CJM will now lock the content of most articles after the first week of publication to drive subscriptions and sustain operations.
Your support has been vital in reaching thousands of new readers with each article that counters implicit bias and celebrates Jewish contributions to cannabis culture.
Now, we're asking for your help to continue this vital work by purchasing a monthly or annual subscription to cannabisjew.com, granting access to all of our distinctive content about cannabis and Jewish culture that serves to correct the record and diversify the cannabis press—a mitzvah for real. Subscribers will also gain access to our Directory of Jewish-friendly cannabis companies (coming soon!).
We also offer special subscription packages for cannabis companies and educational institutions.
In this critical time, we are relying on our readers to join our community of subscribers, enabling us to further enhance Jewish representation in cannabis culture and advocate for the Jewish community in the cannabis sector.
Despite our pain and loss, recent weeks have shown us that together, we can make a difference and combat antisemitism in the cannabis space.
Please consider a contribution to support CJM at this critical moment when Jewish representation is vitally important. Your support is essential to the future of CJM, and its ability to serve as a force of resilience and unity against the global tide of hate.
Thank you for your support and investment in our future.
